Much of the Minhoqueens audience fled the heavy rain around 1:40 p.m. and crowded into the shops on Praça da República. The revelers don raincoats as soon as the thunder hits and sing and dance on.

The rain shower formed puddles and small streams on the sidewalks of Avenida Ipiranga. Less than 20 minutes later, the crowd returned to the avenue to face a fine drizzle.
