Raiders anticipate interest in Derek Carr

Ready to close Derek Carr’s chapter with the team, the Las Vegas Raiders have been very open about their intention to trade the veteran quarterback. The calls shouldn’t be delayed, according to general manager Dave Ziegler.

The formations of the NFL looking for a pivot are quite numerous this offseason. The New York Jets and the Indianapolis Colts could be knocking on the door. Carr has two more seasons left after signing a three-year, $120.5 million deal in April.

“This week at the Senior Bowl everyone is there. It’s a good time to have these conversations. There will be people who care about Derek Carr. There is no doubt about that, Ziegler said in an interview with SiriusXM Radio on Thursday. He was a good footballer in this league for a long time. Like I said, he’s a phenomenal person and we’ll see where it all goes.”

The Raiders opted to bench Carr for the final two games of the 2022 season in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Las Vegas was left out of the playoff picture due to their 6-11 record.

The 31-year-old has spent his entire career with the franchise and made his debut in 2014 while playing for Oakland. He completed 64.6% of his passes for a total of 217 touchdowns while also being the victim of 99 interceptions. Last year he threw 3,522 yards for 24 majors.
