The incident happened in the late afternoon when the suspect entered a store on Rue Roussin in Quebec’s northern sector. He grabbed the keys to a van and left the house with them.

“He then made purchases in a supermarket on Rue de la Faune using a credit card that was in the vehicle,” explains David Poitras, spokesman for the SPVQ.

However, a security system installed in the vehicle made it possible to turn off the engine while the man was in L’Étape, in the middle of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. The van was found but the thief managed to escape.

The police are therefore asking the population for help in finding the person captured by cameras.

The man wore a black hooded coat with a quilted structure during the flight, as well as black trousers and work gloves.
