This is the culmination of an investigation started in 2022. Two men, aged 24 and 28, and a woman, aged 27, were arrested on Friday before being released. They could be charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, the Surete du Québec (SQ) said in a press release.

On the same day, searches at three different locations resulted in authorities seizing approximately 343,000 methamphetamine tablets, over 45 pounds of powdered methamphetamine, as well as 18 ounces of cannabis, over 10 ounces of cocaine, over 12 ounces of magic mushrooms and a total of approximately $13,900, the report said SQ on.

According to the statement, three vehicles were also confiscated “as crime-related property”.

The investigation was conducted jointly by police officers from the Quebec Integrated Weapons Trafficking Team (EILTA), made up of members of the Sûreté du Québec and members of the Quebec City Police Department, in cooperation with the National Organized Crime Squad (ENRCO).

The police operation is part of the CENTAURE strategy, which is tasked with “ensuring constant pressure on organized crime and thus actively counteracting armed violence in Quebec. CENTAURE enables all partner police forces to maximize their efforts at the national, regional and local levels by targeting the supply, importation, distribution and illicit possession of firearms,” emphasizes the SQ.

Any information related to the possession, dealing or use of firearms may be submitted to the CENTAURE information number at 1-833-888-ARME (2763).
