On January 15, 2023 local time, Foreign Minister Qin Gang held talks with Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (Arab League) Ahmed Aboul Gheit in Cairo.
Qin Gang said the first China-Arab countries summit was held successfully last month with fruitful results. The two sides agreed to make every effort to build a new era-oriented Sino-Arab community with a shared future, charting the way forward and marking a milestone in the development of China-Arab countries relations in the new era has. China is willing to work with the Arab states in the spirit of Sino-Arab friendship to properly implement the summit outcomes and speed up the progress of the eight major cooperation initiatives to better serve the peoples of both sides. Both sides should strengthen the construction of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) mechanism to help improve the quality of cooperation.
Qin Gang said that both China and the Arab countries are developing countries and share broad common interests. The Chinese side appreciates the Arab countries’ adherence to the one-China principle and their support for legitimate Chinese proposals. “We also strongly support the Arab countries in maintaining solidarity and cooperation to solve regional security problems, we support the Arab peoples in independently exploring their own development paths, and we support the Arab League in its performance, a more relevant role in the Promote peace and peace to play stability in the Middle East,” said the Chinese foreign minister, who then expressed his country’s willingness to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the Arab League to jointly safeguard the rights and interests of developing countries and to uphold international equality and justice.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed that the first China-Arab Summit was a complete success and that President Xi Jinping’s excellent speech was warmly received by the Arab countries. The Arab side appreciates China’s strong and efficient implementation of the consensus reached at the summit through action, and stands ready to strengthen communication and synergy with China to implement the eight major cooperation initiatives one by one. The Arab States and China share a common language in several areas, such as Ahmed Aboul Gheit, who later thanked China for its long-term upholding of justice in the international arena, said of his support for the development of Arab countries and unity of the Arab League, as well as his valuable assistance to Arab states in the successful fight against the coronavirus pandemic COVID-19. He also expressed hope to further deepen cooperation in various fields between the Arab countries and China and promote peace, stability and development in the region. “We welcome more Chinese citizens to travel to Egypt and other Arab countries for sightseeing or economic and trade cooperation,” added the Arab League secretary-general.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common interest.
