DESTRUCTION Putin’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Sanctions BIDEN, Hunter, Blinken, Millie and Austin as U.S. Strikes Belarusian President Lukashenko, His Wife, and 11 Russian Defense Inners

  • Moscow imposed sanctions on 13 US political figures on Tuesday
  • They range from Biden and his Secretary of State to his son Hunter.
  • This is happening against the background of the fact that the United States continues to strengthen the economic blockade of Russia.
  • On Tuesday, the State Department announced new sanctions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday imposed sanctions on President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and a number of senior US officials as President Vladimir Putin struck back at his regime’s growing economic blockade.

As soon as the Russian statement was made public, Washington introduced new sanctions against President Alexander Lukashenko, Moscow’s ally in Belarus, and 11 key Russian defense officials.

Russia’s actions effectively bar Biden and 12 other American figures, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and CIA Director Bill Burns, from entering Russia.

Duleep Singh, an economist at the National Security Council who is considered the architect of sanctions against Russia, is also on the list.

And in a sign that Moscow knows how to use the American media as a weapon and embarrass Biden, it includes dignitaries like White House press secretary Jen Psaki and the president’s troubled son Hunter.

The list also includes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

She saw the funny side.

“I want to thank the Russian Academy for this Lifetime Achievement Award,” she tweeted.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it is acting “in response to a series of unprecedented sanctions” and is introducing its own measures “on the basis of reciprocity.”

The sanctions come after weeks of mounting pressure on Moscow as the US and its allies try to isolate Russia and Putin’s minions.

The sanctions mean Biden and Blinken are barred from entering Russia, but Moscow has said official relations with Washington — and contacts with key officials — will continue.

Russian forces appear to have stalled in Ukraine and have made little progress in capturing the capital, Kyiv.

Instead, they continued shelling Ukrainian cities and used long-range missiles to hit targets in the country’s west.

On Tuesday, the State Department added to its sanctions list a ban on Lukashenka and his family from entering the US or doing business with Americans.

“Today’s allegations demonstrate that the United States will continue to impose specific and severe sanctions on those who engage in corruption or engage in gross human rights violations,” said Andrea Gaki, director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

“We condemn Russia’s attacks on humanitarian corridors in Ukraine and call on Russia to stop the unprovoked and brutal war against Ukraine.”

Earlier, the US imposed sanctions against Belarus due to its support of the Russian invasion, extending the export control policy to the country.

Other new measures target a judge and investigator as part of the prosecution in Russia of two outspoken critics of alleged corruption and human rights violations.
