Punk and Moxley will unify the AEW titles… next week on Dynamite

During their exchange of words to open the show, AEW World Champion CM Punk said very clearly that his unification match with interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley would be held at All Out in Chicagoland on September 4th.

But after not one but two separating brawls, the second prompted by Mox demanding they have tonight’s (17th August) match on Dynamite, AEW announced that the unification bout will take place next week!

The rationale is that Tony Khan realized after tonight that he wouldn’t be able to tell the two men apart until All Out.

AEW is not known for Schmoz finishes so it will be interesting to see if this is booked for the match to still take place over the weekend of PPV Labor Day or if they get this out of the way so they can return whatever her original plan for punk at All Out was before his injury. Could this be Hangman Page, who Punk also overran to start this week’s Dynamite? Or a certain Long Islander who’s been AWOL since Punk tried to talk to him after his own pipe bomb?

Next Wednesday’s match will be his first since breaking his foot shortly after winning the title from Hangman Page at Double or Nothing.

The “biggest match in AEW history” concludes Dax Harwood vs. Jay Lethal (part of the setup of a trios match at All Out between FTR & Wardlow and Lethal, Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt) and a trios tournament match between Death Triangle and Will Ospreay & Aussie Open.

Let us know what you think of this, Cagesider… ’cause I’m scratching my head.
