Prince Harry broke the Guinness record for fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time with his autobiography The Substitute, which hit bookstore shelves earlier this week.

The controversial memoir sold 1.43 million copies on its first day of sale in the UK, US and Canada, according to the Guinness World Record on its website.
Former US President Barack Obama previously held the record for his autobiography A Promised Land, which was published in 2020 and sold 887,000 copies on the day of publication.
“The first full day of sales for ‘The Substitute’ represents the largest non-fiction book sales ever published by Penguin Random House,” the book’s publisher said in a statement.
According to the Guinness World Record, the numbers are particularly impressive as most of the juicy details were revealed just days before the January 10 release.
In all categories, the fastest selling book in history is the latest installment in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which sold 8.3 million copies on the day of its publication in 2007.
