Police uncover a real arsenal after an accidental 911 call

Long guns, pistols, swords and grenades; RCMP officers conducting a simple roadside check after an accidental 911 call were surprised to stumble upon a veritable armory in Cole Harbor near Halifax Monday night.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Tuesday said it received a call that would have been made to 911 at 8:25 p.m. Protocol requires patrols to be sent to the residence where the call came from to make sure none were really there urgency existed.

However, at the scene, patrol officers found that residents of the premises, a man and a woman, had been arguing. Then, curiously, they noticed that the entire property was damaged and guns were lying around for all to see.

During further inquiries, officers searched the home and seized “four handguns, numerous long guns including a rifle, loaded magazines, grenades, two swords, a spear, several knives and ammunition,” the RCMP listed.

The guns’ owner, William Adam Judson Butt, 42, was arrested and now faces four charges including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and mischief.
