Police arrest Italy’s most wanted mafia boss

Italian police arrested the head of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra, Matteo Messina Denaro, stuck. As the Carabinieri announced on Monday, the mafia boss and Italy’s most wanted criminal was arrested in a private clinic in Palermo, where he wanted to be treated.

Denaro, wanted for 30 years, is accused of at least 50 murders. The 60-year-old man would have committed the first at age 18.

Denaro is also responsible for the murders of the mafia judges and hunters. Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino be co-responsible. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia for the 1992 attack and other attacks. The last known photos of him are from the early 1990s.
