Poland is “ready” to transfer its MiG-29 fighters to the US

Poland will transfer its MiG-29s to the United States, which will be able to make them available to the Ukrainian army.

Poland said on Tuesday evening that it was ready “immediately and free of charge” to hand over all its MiG-29 aircraft in possession of the United States and transfer them to the Ramstein base in Germany.

“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations with the President and the government, are ready to immediately and free of charge move all their MiG-29 aircraft to the Ramstein base and provide them to the United States government,” the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

At the same time, Poland is asking the US to provide the country with used aircraft with appropriate operational capabilities. Poland assures that it is ready to immediately establish the conditions for the purchase of aircraft.

“The Polish government is also asking other NATO allies – owners of MiG-29 aircraft – to act in the same direction,” the statement said.

Poland said on Monday it would not hand over its warplanes to Ukraine, which is demanding air support against Russian aircraft.
