Poilievre must speak from his heart

Poilievre must speak from his heart |

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre completes a three-day tour of Quebec today. Obviously, the member Carleton decided to change his strategy.

During his first tour of Quebec as leader after his September 10 election, Pierre Poilievre had decided to hide from the media. There it is exactly the opposite!

Press briefings, interviews and photo shoots were on the agenda. We have to believe that Mr Poilievre was persuaded by those around him that he needed to change his approach to traditional media.

Survey

Several analysts or observers have criticized the conservative leader’s strategies. But if you look at the polls, it’s still going well.

The latest Nanos poll gives the Conservatives a seven-point lead over Justin Trudeau’s Liberals.

With such a push, Erin O’Toole’s successor can dream of power. Even a majority is not impossible.

But curators shouldn’t break out the champagne too quickly. We know how strong champions Justin Trudeau and his team are at completing an election campaign.

Quebec

In Quebec, Mr. Poilievre doesn’t know honeymoons. The party is essentially at the same point as it was in 2019 or 2021.

As in the past, conservative strategists will look to star candidates to increase their support in La Belle province. However, you have to keep in mind that voters mainly choose party leaders.

This week we saw Mr Poilievre speaking to the media, but he was essentially talking about inflation.

Basically, he is right that this is an important issue. Offering taxpayers fiscal oxygen is a commendable proposition, especially in 2023.

However, Mr Poilievre needs to understand that Quebecers vote with their hearts, not their wallets.
