The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t won a World Series in 14 years and it seems their people are doing their best to help the two-time MLB world champion cross the line.

Several restaurants in the City of Brotherly Love have turned down an opportunity to host World Series favorites while they are in town for games three, four and five of baseball’s flagship event.

Philadelphia’s famous Angelo’s Pizzeria in South Philly declined to cater for the 2017 World Series winners.

However, that’s reportedly not down to hostility toward the long-unloved franchise — outside of Texas — but rather an unwillingness to cook food during gameplay.

Amber Sarcone, cousin of Angelo’s owner – Danny DiGiampietro – wrote on Twitter that the Astros requested delivery of the meal after Game 3, which they lost 7-0.

The Phillies-mad staff weren’t thrilled with the idea of having to “prepare food while the game was played” and have to stay open-minded until the end. In this respect, the application was rejected.

Another Philadelphia facility — Mike’s BBQ — also south of the city, turned down Houston’s advances because they serve barbecue, as opposed to the requested Latin American food.

Astros nutritionist Lisa Clarke approached Mike’s and attempted to arrange meals for games three and four. A post of the conversation was shared on Instagram but has since been removed.

“I would like to organize a catering dinner for November 1st and November 2nd. Can you help me? We need two Latin meals a day,” Clarke wrote.

Mike replied, “We don’t do Latin food? We do American BBQ?’

Along with a screenshot, Mike – who appeared to have been mistaken for a man named Gil – texted an unnamed recipient and said, “I don’t feed them…lol.”

Since then, Mike has taken to her Instagram page to make it clear that they didn’t turn Houston down and couldn’t accommodate her request.

“A local news organization recently flagged a post about the Astros not being fed as a ‘rejection’ while we are die-hard Philly fans,” the post read.

“We do not refuse to serve anyone. We fed the Braves twice, we served the Mets, the list goes on. It was a funny post when the Astros contacted the wrong restaurant. We helped them contact the right one. Both parties knew that about this text.

“It was very funny to say that we wouldn’t feed them. Which we couldn’t anyway. We don’t do Latin American food. We weren’t open that day either. That was the wish.

“Each team should have the opportunity to sample local cuisine or the cuisine of their choice when they are out and about. I’m glad it cheered Philly fans. I thought it would bring lots of laughs.

“But I don’t want people to think we’re refusing to feed anyone. We really don’t. We’ve given away thousands of dollars worth of groceries to anyone who needed them during the pandemic alone.

“And ball players have to eat too! Hope that clears that up. Bottom up! And of course! Los Phillies!!!’

One way or another, Houston needs to refuel ahead of Wednesday night’s Game 4 at Citizen’s Bank Park, with the Phillies leading 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Philadelphia will host Game 5 before Houston has Games 6 and 7 if needed.
