The French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton he announced that the new creative director of its menswear line will be American pop star Pharrell Williams. Fashion designer Virgil Abloh held the role until his death in November 2021, when it went vacant for more than a year until Tuesday’s announcement.
Williams is 49 years old and an internationally known songwriter, musician and record producer. He has won several awards in his career, including 13 Grammy Awards: Among his greatest musical successes are the songs “Blurred Lines” and “Happy”. He’s no newcomer to the fashion industry though: he co-founded streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club in 2003 and has worked with brands like Moncler, Chanel and Adidas over the years. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be presented in June during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

Louis Vuitton is considered a classic and luxury brand, but in 2018, with the election of Abloh as creative director for the men’s line, it began to approach streetwear and meet the tastes of those born between the eighties and nineties. In addition, as of February 1, Louis Vuitton has a new President and CEO, Italian Pietro Beccari, who previously headed Dior.
