Also, the mother, originally from Ukraine, was very touched by the dose of love bestowed upon the young hockey players and the gang, the Ukrainian people.

The support and the ovation multiplied before, during and after the performance of the two teams.

“My heart is with my country and I’m sad to see everything that’s happening, but given the role and the reaction of the people, it’s a sense of pride I have,” confided the young woman in French who has been living for some months in Quebec.

Touching moments

Jessica Anthony knows Ukrainians well. She has been organizing community activities at an elementary school in the Saint-Sauveur neighborhood of Quebec for months. On Saturday she saw stars in everyone’s eyes.

In her opinion, the hug before the game, the national anthems and the lap of honor at the end of the game were the most touching moments of this beautiful day.

After the game, the hall of the Videotron Center was crowded, as many spectators were waiting for the players at the exit of the dressing room.

As with the NHL stars, people lined up for a photo not only with the Peewees but also with the Ukrainians, who wore the team colors.

The Road to Montreal

For his part, Daniel Bélanger traveled to Montreal to support the young pee-wee of the two formations. The Boston Bruins fan had his Ukraine jersey and flag along with a Bruins hat and scarf.

“It’s been 55 years since I came to the tournament and I wanted to see both teams and they gave us a great game, there are no losers. »
