The Syndicat national du Lait (CSD) voted 97% in favor of the agreement in principle reached between the parties on September 21, avoiding an industrial dispute.

“It is thanks to the tireless support of our members, as well as the enormous work of the negotiation committee, which has made it possible not only to achieve great monetary and normative gains, but also to earn the respect of the employer, “said Pierre-Jacob happily Gagnon, President of the National Milk Union (CSD).

On August 21, after a secret ballot, 96% of members gave the union office a mandate to use pressure to call a strike at the appropriate time.

The 5-year agreement provides for salary increases of 14.5%, which ultimately with the economies of scope equates to a real increase of 15.6%. The new collective agreement also provides for higher contributions, a salary increase for skilled workers and an improvement in employer participation in group insurance.
