Paul Pelosi’s attacker calls a TV station: ‘I’m so sorry I didn’t get more from you’

Paul Pelosi’s attacker, David DePape, called a TV station and said he was so sorry I didn’t get more from them.

DePape, 42, attacked Pelosi, 82, with a hammer around 2 a.m. on Oct. 28 after police showed up at her door, bodycam footage showed.

After the bodycam footage was released on Friday, the attacker called local broadcaster KTVU to let viewers know he had “important news for everyone in America,” and went on to tell the audience, “You’re welcome [for the Pelosi attack].’

“I want to apologize to everyone. I messed up. What I did was really bad. I’m so sorry I didn’t get more of this. It’s my own fault. Nobody else is to blame. I should have come better prepared,” he continued.

David DePape called a local TV station and said he was “sorry I didn’t get more from them” and that he should have been “better prepared” when he attacked the Pelosi household on Oct. 28

DePape originally told investigators he planned to hold former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hostage. She was not in San Francisco at the time of the attack but was in Washington DC.

DePape went on to say that “freedom and liberty don’t die, they are systematically and intentionally killed.”

“The people who kill it have names and addresses, so I got their names and addresses so I can pay them a little visit. Talk heart to heart about their bad behavior,” he told the broadcaster.

He also said he “spent all my time exposing government corruption online only to have it silenced as quickly as possible through free speech”.

He went on to say that the “ruling class [has] have outsourced the recession” and are “fascists”.

DePape said he was launching a new website that was “out of the reach of tyrannical global fascists and their internet censors” after his other website was “silenced.”

In December, DePape remained in a San Francisco jail after coercing himself with attempted murder, falsely imprisoning an elder, threatening an officer’s family member, assaulting himself by assault, and preventing a witness from reporting a crime.

It is unclear how he plans to set up a new website behind bars.

The 911 call, also released Friday, shows Paul notified emergency services that someone had come to his home.

Paul is heard trying to get the dispatcher’s attention to who he is and the danger he is in as he says, “Here’s a gentleman just waiting for my wife to come back, Nancy Pelosi.”

When the dispatcher asked who the man was, DePape said, “I’m a friend of yours.” The 911 call, which lasted more than two minutes, ended when Paul informed the dispatcher that the suspect told him to hang up.

The 911 dispatcher was identified as Heather Grives at the time of DePape’s arrest by San Francisco Police Chief William Scott. She is a Dispatch Supervisor with more than 23 years of experience in the city’s Department of Emergency Management.

The call came during a 16-hour shift for Grives. Department director Mary Ellen Carroll tweeted after the incident: “[Grives] used her training, experience and intuition to save a life.’

After the arrest, officers called a code 3, meaning it was a medical emergency that required an immediate response.

DePape was asked in an interview with detectives why he didn’t leave when he knew Paul had called 911. He responded by saying, “It’s like the founding fathers. They fought the British. They fought against tyranny; You didn’t just turn into her.

He continued: “And when I left my house I went to fight tyranny, I didn’t go to surrender. I will not surrender. I’m here for the fight.”

Released footage from Capitol Police surveillance cameras that had been set up showed DePape lurking outside the home for about four minutes. The officers did not view the recordings in real time.

The video shows DePape walking to a glass door, exiting, and then returning with a large backpack and two other bags.

He put down all the items and pulled out a hammer, pausing to put on gloves and used it to smash the door glass so he could step through an opening. DePape later spoke to detectives and said he injured his hand breaking the glass.

In response to the release, DePape’s attorney, Public Defender Adam Lipson, said it was a “horrible mistake.”

He said in a statement: “The release of this footage is disrespectful to Mr. Pelosi and serves no purpose other than to appease the public desire for spectacle and violence.”

Lipson continued, “The footage is inflammatory and could fuel unfounded theories about this case, and we are extremely concerned about Mr. DePape’s ability to receive a fair trial.”

DePape told detectives he plans to “interrogate” the former spokeswoman and break her kneecaps if he feels he is being lied to.

He also believed that Nancy Pelosi was the “leader of the pile of lies” being spread by the Democratic Party and that his actions served to “show other members of Congress that actions have consequences.”

DePape also said he’s not trying to get away with his actions.

He went on to accuse the Democratic Party of being on a “crime spree” to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency, which led to the “stolen election” of 2020.
