Parents revolt after discovering school has installed metal bars in bathrooms

Controversial cases are published daily. A news story broke out recently in which parents were upset after discovering a school had installed bars in bathrooms. According to the institution, this measure was taken to prevent students from going to the toilet at times other than those set. After this measure, several students left the school.

A School Discovery Academy in StokeonTrentin the West Midlands region of England, decided to put metal bars on bathroom doors to prevent students from going to them at unauthorized times.

Parents were outraged by this attitude, especially when they learned that the courts were only open during breaks and lunchtime. One of a student’s mothers said that her son had a medical certificate claiming that he needed to go to the bathroom constantly.

The hope of the parents with the protest is that the school will reconsider this initiative and resign with this attitude.

But why did the school install these railings?

For some parents, this measure was taken following acts of vandalism and also to prevent students from using cell phones during class. However, the parents are still very angry because for them this situation is a humiliation for their children.

One of the mothers pointed out that girls of a certain age need to go to the toilet at irregular times and sometimes at the last minute. It’s hard enough for her to be a girl. Now imagine going through a situation where the whole class bleeds.

Alpha Academies Trust (AAT), which runs Discovery Academy, did not comment on when exactly the barriers will open and close. She said only that this measure is intended to encourage students to use the toilet regularly and that access is unlimited for those who need to use the toilets regularly.
