Papa Johns Has Launched a Weird New Craving and Pizza

Papa John’s Has Launched a Weird New “Craving,” and Pizza Lovers Haven’t

A new Papa John menu item is saying goodbye to the crust, and pizza lovers can’t help but poke fun at the new addition to the fast-food chain.

The chain announced last week that its newest dish, Papa Bowls, doesn’t require a pizza pie base. The shells hold toppings for a range of pizza styles — including Garden Veggie, Italian Meats Trio, and Chicken Alfredo — minus the round crust to hold them.

“Our signature crust continues to be a popular favorite, but we know that sometimes customers crave something different,” said Scott Rodriguez, the chain’s senior vice president of strategy and product innovation.

“We want them to know that we’re committed to satisfying all of those cravings through our menu.”

Pizza lovers heard the news through a CNN tweet, which described the article as a way for the chain to “get people excited about pizza again.”

The new menu item was burnt and crispy like the bottom of a bad pizza.

“People never stopped being passionate about pizza. They stopped being happy about Papa John’s, this is absolutely crappy pizza.” wrote @CaffeineAndHate.

“To get people excited about pizza again, Papa John’s is now offering something that isn’t pizza.” wrote @thesixler.
