The Peruvian team’s historic striker and Racing’s new addition spoke about how he feels after arriving at the academy and why he chose Racing.

Paul Guerrero is the new star reinforcement of racing club. The Peruvian striker will play in Argentina’s professional league under the guidance of strategist Fernando Gago. After his arrival at The Academy, Guerrero is happy and hoping to be with his teammates in an official game as soon as possible. The veteran striker said it was an incredible feeling to be at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, also known as El Cilindro, and that he needed to be prepared because expectations were raised.

“I feel very good. Now I’m going to another stadium. I came here to train when I was at Inter. After these two weeks, it’s an incredible feeling to be able to share every day with my team-mates.” Knowing all of them is important to me,” he told ESPN. He also pointed out that the training sessions he’s been through are demanding and he hopes to be with the group next week.

The Peruvian team’s top scorer also spoke of the possibility of reaching Racing 2018. He said that his representative met with Diego Milito this year and that although some conditions were discussed, they were not made concrete. He said he had a preliminary contract at Inter in 2018.

Guerrero recognized the greatness of the academy and pointed out that he always wanted to play for this Argentine club. He also explained that he had suggestions from other clubs but had no hesitation in accepting Racing’s offer. “When I got the chance to come to Racing I didn’t think about it. I had suggestions from other clubs but I was waiting for Racing’s. I wanted to play here, it’s a team that has always motivated me, it has a nice stadium. When the offer came, I said, ‘It’s now or never,'” he said.

This Saturday, February 4, Racing lost 1-0 to Argentino Jrs as a guest. The Academy’s next game will be on Sunday 12 February at the Presidente Perón stadium against Tigre for the third date of the Argentine professional league. It could be Paolo Guerrero’s debut.
