The suspicion of sabotage of the damaged Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea increased after an investigation at the scene of the incident in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone, the country’s security service said on Thursday.

“Detonations took place near Nord Stream 1 and 2 in the Swedish economic zone, causing significant damage to gas pipelines,” Sweden’s State Security Service said in a statement.

Some materials were confiscated from the site and are now being analyzed, and the site is no longer cordoned off, they said.

“Further investigation will determine if anyone can be suspected and then prosecuted for this crime.”
