Next, another twist: the program ends, the reasons

Cold shower comes for all fans of Next anotherone of the most popular and followed programs of the schedule of channel 5. In the past few hours, the well-known TV author Marco Salvati in an absolute preview as part of Casa Pipol reveals that the program only has one more edition ahead of it, namely next year’s. After that, the program should finally close its doors: Next another so he only has one edition left, then nothing more.

Marco Salvati’s statements left all the connected guests stunned, especially Gabriele Parpiglia (he literally jumped up!). “But really?” the author’s reaction, repeated by the presenter Giovanna Abate, who asked the guest for further explanations in this regard. Not without a touch of nostalgia, Marco Salvati commented:

“Probably next year will be the last […] By the will of the conductor, but also because the program found its way after reaching seniority. They’ll say a program that’s going well doesn’t give up, but even good things have to say goodbye, everything comes to an end.”

There is no doubt that the closure of Avanti another is a decidedly unexpected decision for many. Just in unsuspecting times, the program has actually included monster games touching on that 26% share and to convince millions and millions of Italians in front of the TV. Auditel arrives at what Marco Salvati himself described as “amazing”, explaining, among other things, that these are interesting numbers, especially given the sensitive and active audience, made up mainly of young people (while the older ones prefer it ). The legacy).

The preview of the new season of Ciao Darwin

During the interview with Casa Pipol, Marco Salvati also had the opportunity to give small previews of the new edition of Hello Darwin, transmission for the “another wind draws”. In this case, in fact, there is no question of completion and the preludes to Paolo Bonolis’ other program have already begun, even if the author obviously hasn’t managed to unbutton himself that much.

“The other day we auditioned for the corps de ballet. We still do ballet, there is one in the middle and one at the end in the cylinder area. The choreographer is Salvatore Lo Iacono […] We did well this audition, there are some new faces, I think we will please everyone who sees us. The casting is very active in the teams, they will be more updated teams on the issues of the moment. Some challenges, the historical ones, will perhaps be repeated with different names and different premises.”

Salvati then added that the part of the audition for Mother Nature happens without him being informed (“Mother Nature, I know they’re auditioning without my knowledge. I can’t tell you if anything was found or not”) , and then granted another small preview. Indeed, the new edition of Ciao Darwin will be much more comprehensive in its own way. Here is what he said on the subject:

“Under my pressure, and very well accepted by Paolo, at Ciao Darwin we usually had a male audience and a female audience. This year we introduce the rainbow sector. Because we have recognized not only the changing times, but also the difficulties of some men or women who did not feel like applause in their industry. Some men didn’t feel like applauding other men who came in because they were in some sort of man phase. The same happened for women. In this segment, everyone can applaud whoever they want.”

“Guilt of first-degree murder,” the chief jury said gravely at the Montreal courthouse Monday.

The jury’s verdict came exactly four years to the day after the murder of Azzedine Laknit, an escort agency owner, who was killed in Square Décarie on the morning of February 20, 2019.

According to evidence presented by the Crown, the accused and the victim had an argument over a woman. Filled with resentment and determined to retaliate, Chebbout, who was an escort driver, had made an appointment with Mr Laknit on the pretext that he wanted to give him some money. Instead, he stabbed him 16 times with a kitchen knife.

“He’s dead, I killed him, I called the police, I’ll spend my life in prison but I don’t like it when anyone touches my pride,” Chebbout said shortly after a recorded phone call.

  • Listen to Richard Martineau’s interview with Sandra Wesley, Executive Director of Stella Organization QUB radio :

He had also called 911 to report.

However, during the trial he tried to convince the jury that he had acted either in self-defense or as a provocation. It was said that he drank gin that day.

The jury ultimately did not accept either of these explanations.

“We believe the jury made a good decision in this case,” commented The Crown’s Me Matthew Ferguson. I hope that this verdict, announced on the fourth anniversary of the murder, will allow relatives [de la victime] mourn.”

Me Marie-Hélène Giroux, representing the defendant, has 30 days to appeal the verdict if the defendant so requests.

1676929826 Norway and the Diplomacy of Peace

Norway and the Diplomacy of Peace

“Usually politicians check themselves when they have a microphone in front of them and privately tell someone else what they really think. In Venezuela it’s the other way around: what you say privately to a politician is amplified with a microphone in front of you. We offer no guarantee of discretion.” Every now and then, a senior Venezuelan politician uses this anecdote to try to explain some of the reasons that make it so difficult to negotiate a solution to the institutional crisis in the Latin American country. Recalling this, Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt nods and doesn’t try to hide a smile as she looks at Idun Tvedt, deputy head of the ministry’s Peace and Reconciliation Department. Through their different roles, both have experienced, among other things, the complexity of Venezuelan politics: They are part of the most discreet actor in the recent peace processes around the world: This is how Norway conducts its peace diplomacy.

Norway’s first involvement in an international peace process took place in Guatemala in the 1990s at the request of civil society groups. Although this first intervention was met with “many, many failures,” it formed the basis on which Norway’s peace diplomacy was built. After Guatemala came negotiations between Israel and Palestine, followed by Sudan, Mali, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Venezuela… It is estimated that about 120 Norwegian diplomats have participated in at least 40 peace processes around the world, including those that include a special process department with 16 people that was founded 20 years ago and functions as a kind of elite unit for peace and reconciliation. “We don’t travel the world looking for conflict or pressuring parties [to negotiate]but when we are approached and we see that we are able, we share our acquired facilitation knowledge,” says Huitfeldt.

Enable, not mediate: Huitfeldt emphasized the distinction several times during the recent conversation in Mexico City in front of the lake in Chapultepec Park. A few hours from there, Norway has just held a retreat for conflict resolution experts. And even closer to the forested park south of the city, a Norwegian team is part of talks between the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN), Latin America’s last active guerrilla group. A previous negotiation in Colombia involving the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) is one of Norwegian diplomacy’s greatest successes, which Huitfeldt highlights, perhaps because it was so complicated. “We spoke to all parties to the conflict, including those we condemn. It was controversial at the time that we did it with the Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas or the FARC ourselves. We could be criticized for that, but we believe that it is the only way to resolve a conflict.”

Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt with Idun Tvedt, Deputy Director of the Norwegian Government's Peace and Reconciliation Department. Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt with Idun Tvedt, Deputy Director of the Norwegian Government’s Peace and Reconciliation Department. Hector Guerrero

Huitfeldt structures Norway’s work around four ideas: “The first is that we have to be discreet: we don’t tend to appear in the media. If the parties want to say something, they can, but we can only do so if they disagree with us. That turns out to be an exception,” she jokes. “Impartiality is a fundamental principle for us as moderators. We don’t pressure; We are a small country, with a small army and a small economy, we cannot force them to cooperate! What we can do is facilitate conversations and try to understand what solutions we can suggest. Peace can only be achieved if the parties are willing to work towards a political solution.” However, Norway’s impartiality in negotiations does not imply neutrality, for example in the case of the Taliban. “We cannot be neutral on issues like women’s and children’s rights.”

One of the clearest examples of the advances that this discretion and impartiality can achieve was in Venezuela. Norway was one of the few full-fledged democracies not to recognize Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s interim president in 2019, a gamble that stumbled the world’s great powers. “If we had done that, we would not have been able to take on the moderator role,” says Tvedt.

The only case where Norway’s impartiality has proved a chimera so far is in Ukraine. “We can not [facilitate talks]because we have a border with Russia,” says Huitfeldt, who adds that Oslo has provided military support to Ukraine, the first time Norway has supplied arms in a conflict since it did so in Cuba in the face of Fidel Castro’s advance . “Defending Ukraine against invasion and the global consequences of the war require our attention; If desired, we can support Ukraine with our experience in peace and reconciliation,” she says.

Fernando Vergara (AP)

Patience is an equally important part of Norwegian diplomacy. The peace process between the Colombian government and the FARC has dragged on for at least a decade: first came the phase of secret talks, then the negotiating table in Havana, and finally the implementation of the agreement. Norway was present at every stage. “Patience is another key. It must be clear to the parties that Norway will be there in good times and in bad: they have to trust us.” This can mean years of back and forth, scanning the terrain and the parties involved and making sure, as the two diplomats emphasize, who these parties represent and whether or not they are legitimate representatives – something that becomes incredibly complex when one examines who the interlocutors of an armed guerrilla group are.

After explaining Norway’s evolution in peace processes and the lessons learned over the years, Huitfeldt makes a point that she believes is key to explaining how it was possible to get this far: “It is more likely that failure occurs as success,” she says. Tvedt complements this observation with an optimistic note: “Conflicts are becoming more complex, but there is also more demand for mediation; most eventually end up at the negotiating table. Even if the efforts have proved insufficient, they will not have been in vain. They may have increased the chances of a later peaceful solution. And in the meantime, they may have saved thousands of lives.”

Discover the song that Quebecer La Zarra will play at Eurovision

La Zarra, a Quebecer who will sing for France in the Eurovision Song Contest, is banking on victory on “Obvious,” a melancholy lyric laced with electro-disco that was featured on France 2’s newscasts on Sunday night.

• Also read: A Quebecer will represent France at Eurovision

“Obviously”, it’s “the first word that came to me when I was offered to do Eurovision”, revealed the artist, presenting this title to some journalists on Friday and asking “Eurofans” to remain discreet until Sunday evening .

The song’s title sounds like a wish for a self-fulfilling prophecy for France, which hasn’t won the Eurovision Song Contest since Marie Myriam in 1977.

“Let’s achieve this victory!” starts Alexandra Redde-Amiel, head of the French delegation, alongside the artist for this private listening.

The song’s introduction commemorates Edith Piaf and thus an heiress, Barbara Pravi, French candidate who placed 2nd in 2021. But this is a false lead. Because after a minute electro-disco appears, enthroned on a bulging bass line.

For the lyrics, La Zarra – alias in reference to “La Môme”, nickname of Edith Piaf – mixes themes that already irrigate the success “Tu t’en iras”, which will unveil it in 2021 as part of his first album “Treachery”. had. published in the same year.

Either the accumulation of clouds announcing the rain after a fine day, a metaphor for the disillusionment of a sentimental or professional life.

“Obviously all these beautiful promises I hear it’s just wind,” sings the Quebec native, always mysterious without revealing her age.

SLAM/France TV Cedric Belanger

“I always sing melancholy, but it’s not sad. I want to move forward despite false promises, ”the singer developed a black sheath dress and Louboutin pumps on her feet on Friday.

The artist promises “an insane outfit” on this theme on D-Day, May 13 in Liverpool. Ukraine won the last edition but cannot host the competition due to the Russian invasion.

“As you know, I am from Quebec (my family is) of Moroccan origin. When Eurovision came to me I had this feeling, this need to talk about self love, universal love. This song was just written in three nights,” she continues.

The artist was chosen following a crush meeting with Alexandra Redde-Amiel, also director of entertainment and games at France Télévisions.

The vote of a jury and the public, which has been customary in France in recent years, has therefore been put in brackets. Officially, the poor performance of the 2022 penultimate French candidates Alvan & Ahez has nothing to do with this.

As a reminder, in 2001 France was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest by Canadian Natasha St-Pier (4th).

When a journalist, hearing, among other things, like a small echo of Conchita Wurst’s 2014 victory song, asked La Zarra if she was inspired by it, Alexandra Redde-Amiel replies:

“That’s a question that could almost upset her. She is not at all dependent on the inspirations of the winners, she is an artist from the heart. That is what makes all the wealth of La Zarra, it cannot be compared, ”cuts off the head of delegation.

“Here, as she said,” adds the singer happily.
