His Des idées de grandeur program on Canal Vie and his duplex renovation project featured in the web series Passion Poussière confirmed his eye and talent for home transformation.

As part of our Le projet maison de… series, in collaboration with Desjardins, we had the opportunity to visit his new condominium in his favorite Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area. We also took the opportunity to talk about real estate investing, mortgage loans and small DIY renovations.

Nothing complicated

It’s been a little over a year since Félix-Antoine moved into his bright condominium. After renovating a duplex from scratch a few years ago, the animator was looking for a “turnkey” property to breathe a little. Why condominium instead of house? “For your peace of mind!” he said.

work 4 days a week? British companies adopt model after 6month trial

More quality of life

92% of UK airlines will retain the short break model

Giovanna Sutto 02/27/2023 09:33 Updated 48 minutes ago

The 4day working week has been tested and approved in the UK: 92% of the companies that took part in the pilot, which ran between June and December 2022, will keep the shorter working week format.

The project “The 4Day Week Global” (four days a week, in free translation) is testing the daily modality, involving 2,900 employees from 61 companies operating in the country. In it, the professional receives 100% of the salary if they work 80% of the time in exchange for the obligation to maintain 100% productivity (a model that became known as the 10080100).

Companies of different sizes and industries, including education, banking, technology, human resources and retail, took part in the tests voluntarily. The final report of the test was published on the 21st and shows that the model has gained wide acceptance and will definitely be adopted by most companies.

Of the 5 companies that did not want to keep the working model, 2 decided to extend the test phase and 3 temporarily paused the project.

The average revenue of the participating companies increased by up to 35% compared to the same six months of previous years. Additionally, the number of professionals leaving companies fell by 57% during the test a sign that the shorter work model can retain talent.

90% of employees say they “definitely want to keep working” in this fourdayaweek format. A proportion of 15% goes even further: They say that no amount of money would be enough for them to take another job within five working days.

When it comes to wellbeing at work, 71% of employees say they have experienced less burnout (chronic stress related to an improperly managed workplace), 43% notice an improvement in mental health, 39% feel less stressed and 37% % report some improvement in physical health.

The idea of reducing working hours is to focus on productivity and have more time for wellbeing. Another demonstrable effect occurred on the worklife journey: 60% of employees reported that they were able to better balance their work and responsibilities at home, including caring for the children.

The report presented this month does not mention the negative sides of the initiative. The study’s preliminary document, released in September 2022, indicated that some companies, particularly those with more conservative cultures, are less flexible and have older executives, the modality requiring much more effort to adapt.

difference between men and women

Juliet Schor, senior researcher and professor at Boston College, says the tests are very positive because “they show stable results across workplaces of different sizes, showing that this is an innovation that works for many types of organizations.”

Dale Whelehan, CEO of 4Day Week Global, says the sample revealed gender differences. While both men and women benefit from the fourday workweek, women’s experiences are generally better: they show greater improvements in burnout levels, life and job satisfaction, improved mental health, and shorter commute time.

“The burden of nonworkrelated tasks appears to be leveling out as more men take on a greater share of housework and childcare during the fourday workweek,” he said.

4 days work around the world

The 4DayWeek Global project has been tested in several countries: there are 91 companies and around 3,500 employees in 6 countries (Australia, Canada, USA, Ireland and New Zealand, in addition to the UK).

A new report with findings from Australia and New Zealand will be published shortly. Companies from Brazil and South Africa are also subject to tests. O infomoney contacted the consultant of the project for more details about the operation of the project on the national territory, but did not receive a reply as of this publication.

The 4Day Week Global has the support of global consultancy Autonomy, in addition to help from researchers from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and Boston College.

Actress and screenwriter Livia La Gatto reported that she filed a complaint with the police in São Paulo after receiving a death threat from trainer and influencer Thiago Schutz. Threats were sent to her via private messages on social media.

Lívia posted a video of men mocking hate speech against women. In the satire, she mocks Schutz without mentioning his name.

Then he received threats from the influencer. She says she has received more than 10 calls on Instagram.

“You have 24 hours to remove your content about me. After that, it’s process or bullet. You choose,” reads one of the posts sent to the artist.

The influencer went viral for posting a video of him refusing to have a beer with a woman because he was already drinking Campari. In the video, he claims the offer is a kind of “test” for women to see how authentic and original he remains.

He says he is part of the “Red Pill” advisors, a men’s movement that misrepresents the concept that originated in the Matrix film, allegedly valuing masculinity and promoting hatred against groups, especially women.

Schutz runs an Instagram account called Manual Red Pill Brasil, which has over 330,000 followers.

In videos published on the site, he claims that women are “more expensive than a family doctor.”

“In order for the guy to get laid quickly, he has to buy his wife a car.” He also says that the woman’s sexual excess is causing her “a lot of trouble getting married.”

She also criticizes women for wearing “short clothes.” “Suddenly this guy feels awkward when his girlfriend wears that friggin’ outfit.”

Other Complaints

In addition to Lívia, two other women told the report that they had also been the target of threats from the influencer.

Andressa Ricci says she saw the post he printed about the conversation with actress Lívia La Gatto. She responded to the publication by telling him to also show the threat he made against her.

She then says he called her on Instagram and she didn’t answer.

After that he sent two audios. The first statement that the same threats against Lívia were directed against her as well. He then deleted it.

In the second audio, he invites her in for a facetoface interview and asks if she’s a woman only via the internet.

She said she plans to file a threat bulletin.

Also the interpreter and sambista Bruna Volpi posted a video about Thiago Schultz and says she received numerous calls through his profile on social networks in the early hours of Saturday (25).

“The Voice”: Music connects all generations – Le Journal de Québec

The young Nathaël Young met the oldest contestant of the season, Nadia-Lyse Perrone, 76, this Sunday in the second duel show of “La Voix”. Marjo asked her to sing one of his hits, “If it was necessary”, which she breathe new life.

Originally a love song, the two agreed it was like a grandmother and her grandson tenderly discussing the passage of time. The performance was full of emotions, so much so that Nathaël lost the words.

“The bond between Nadia-Lyse and me was really strong,” said the young singer, 18. I forgot my words looking at her, I got lost in her eyes. But that’s okay, just stay positive.”

He approached this phase of the show with a mix of conflicting emotions. “I was very happy to sing with Nadia-Lyse. It was always behind the scenes, taking care of others, asking if we were okay, and offering us a little mint. Nadya-Lise was one of the best singers. She is so sweet, I love her very much, my loving little grandma.”

Despite her addiction to the text and her natural and open reaction to her mistake, Marjo decided to continue the adventure with Nathaël.

“I was so surprised by his choice,” admitted the young New Brunswick man. I was ready to go in my head. I think maybe she saw that, even if I forgot the lyrics of the song, I knew how to bring emotion about it with my little voice. I also think she saw that I have potential and that she wants to know more about my universe.

  • Listen to Anaïs Guertin-Lacroix’s cultural contribution, broadcast live every day at 6:35 a.m QUB radio :

Nathaël’s zeal and energy are reminiscent of Marjo’s. “We really bonded. I’m proud and happy to have chosen Marjo, I’m not sure I would have had such a good connection with another coach. With Marjo we like the same style of music, we have a lot in common. We look a lot alike, it’s really weird.”

Despite his age, Nathaël already knows exactly what he wants to do and in which musical direction he wants to go. “I love to sing songs that convey emotions, I like to touch the audience, to make them cry, to move them. But I also have another side, I like to sing more rock songs. The original songs I’ve been doing lately are more punk rock. It’s a less popular style with young people right now, but I think it’s cool and I wish young people would hear it more.

tribute

Before Nadia-Lyse left the stage of “La Voix”, Corneille wanted to pay her a nice tribute. “I come from a continent where aging is a privilege,” he told her. We respect that. We just spent two or three years abandoning our elders. By your mere presence you have just told all of Quebec that there is no age limit to being where you want to be. To cheer!”

Knowledge of French at CEGEP Quebec hides the opinions

Knowledge of French at CEGEP | Quebec hides the opinions of a report

The poor status of French among students may have made headlines in recent weeks, but Quebec is refusing to publish a report it has had in its hands for a year that looks at the difficulties faced by CEGEP students on the matter.

Posted at 5:00 am

share

In September 2021, the Minister for Higher Education stated that the success rates for the standardized French test that students have to pass at the end of their university career “are not what one would like”. .

Danielle McCann therefore commissioned a working group to examine the difficulties in French among CEGEP students.

“I would like a diagnosis to know why we are having these difficulties,” the minister said at a press conference.

The report “is currently being analyzed”, according to the Ministry of Higher Education. What is the state of affairs and should action be taken to improve French language among college students? Impossible to know.

On January 9, the Ministry of Higher Education refused a request for information from La Presse to obtain this report on the grounds that they were “documents drawn up by or on behalf of the Minister’s office”.

In the office of new minister Pascale Déry, we confirm that she has read the report and that we will be kept “up to date on developments regarding its publication”.

The authors of the report cannot grant an interview on the subject as they are “always bound to confidentiality pending the publication of the report”.

“We, like you, await its publication and can speak to you about it when it is published,” wrote Godeliva Debeurme, retired professor at the University of Sherbrooke, and Marie-Claude Boivin, full professor at the University of Montreal, and Lison Chabot, retired director of studies at Cégep de Beauce-Appalaches.

They confirm to La Presse that they presented their conclusions in Quebec in January 2022.

“It’s inconsistent”

The Quebec Collegiate Student Federation (FECQ) also wants to know what recommendations Minister Déry has in his hands.

“It’s contradictory that it’s not coming out,” said Maya Labrosse, president of the FECQ.

If we decide to set up a working group on the issue of French language proficiency, it means that there is a problem to be solved. If a report contains recommendations, we do not see why they should not be made and published.

Maya Labrosse, President of the FECQ

Danielle McCann said in 2021 she wanted to “improve learning and fluency in the French language”. “I think this is the way to improve the graduation rate,” explained the minister.

Regardless of the discipline studied, a knowledge of French is essential, Ms McCann added.

The FECQ would like the French difficulties of the students to be determined by a test when they enter the university and calls for better financing of the French support centers in the CEGEPs.

The association also believes that measures to master the French language must be taken before joining CEGEP. The majority of school service centers in Quebec have noticed that their students’ pass rate on their most recent lower secondary written French exams has decreased.

In some places, every second student failed the grade.
