Rio Dani Calabresa opened up about the end of her marriage to Marcelo Adnet after the comedian was caught kissing another woman in a bar. While appearing on Quem Pode, Pod with Giovanna Ewbank and Fernanda Paes Leme, the comedian recalled their split in 2017 and revealed she was inspired by the blonde as she tried to forgive her exhusband for the betrayal .

“Divorce is very difficult… It was a nightmare that made the world collapse. It was seven days before my birthday. I even found it humbling… You inspired me. I am the person I stand up for. I was really sad.” When it happened to you. I thought they were a beautiful couple. I felt like, “They’re a match, they’re soulmates,” Dani commented, citing the time Giovanna split from Bruno Gagliasso following an alleged betrayal by the actor in 2012. Two months later, the two resumed their relationship and are still together today as they are parents to Títi (9), Bless (8) and Zyan (2).

When her own marriage faced a crisis, Dani tried to follow Gio’s example: “I thought it was nice that you forgive. I found it ripe. You inspired me to do something I don’t even know if I would do.” What has been uncovered we continue to try to understand, but it is a part. you know what you got When it happened to me, a friend said, “Look at Giovanna and Bruno.” I thought, “Is it worth another chance?” “Things didn’t go so well for us, but it was a learning experience,” she said Was first cheated on by Adnet in 2014 but decided to continue the marriage until 2016 when the actor returned to have an extramarital affair.

In 2020, three years after the split, Calabresa began a relationship with publicist Richard Neuman, whom he married in November last year. During the chat, which aired on YouTube this Tuesday, the actress erupted in a rage at the single stage: “Completing is remembering who we are, recalculating the route, feeling, ‘Did you get that Lost interest in me? I don’t know.’” “If I’m that nice, I don’t know if I’m that good at sex.”

“People said ‘man cheats’. So men have permission from society to be a shit and we have to be nice, hot and supportive and not do shit. I could cheat too, I’m horny for a while too, but wait.” , it has maturity, character and choice. It’s very unfair to justify that it’s a man, that’s a lot. It encourages very shitty behavior because men can do anything,” she concluded.

Micheline Lanctôt blames the healthcare system for her husband’s untimely death – 7 days

May 19 was published in a powerful letter The dutyDirector and actress Micheline Lanctôt slammed the government and hospital for the untimely death of her husband, Marshall Chrostowski.

On May 10, the former geographer died surrounded by his loved ones and in the comfort of his home at the age of 86. According to the actress, despite recovering from lung cancer, Mr. Chrostowski was described as “strong, vigorous, conscious and functioning” upon admission to the hospital. When he left, however, the landscape gardener was only “a shadow of himself”. […] emaciated, weakened, anxious and gasping for breath.”

In her haunting letter, Micheline Lanctôt underscores the numerous failings in the healthcare system that she believes led to the death of her loved one.

She also denounces witnessing that no one followed the protocol of two visitors per bed and that it was “the Mass”; that people would enter and leave the emergency room “without masks, without hygiene precautions”.

Lanctôt also reports that the atmosphere in the ICU was marked by a serious lack of respect:

“The ward is working at full capacity, the patients are obviously doing very poorly. But in unity it is the party. It’s rocking from one side of the ward to the other, doctors, nurses, attendants, we talk and call out to each other without the slightest respect for the patients.

The reason Micheline Lanctôt’s wife went to the hospital was because he started coughing again and the actress feared her cancer would come back. She was quick to voice her suspicions to several doctors she spoke to about the situation. However, none of them took the actress seriously, saying recurrence was “unlikely so soon after surgery.”

“We sent him home on Tuesday May 9th and he died on the night of May 10th.

[…] Minister Dubé, we can say that the hospital killed my spouse. Cancer might have defeated him, but I could have enjoyed his loving presence a little longer. This situation was unbearable. I don’t blame anyone, it’s the system that’s broken. This system that so many of your peers have tried to reform without ever getting any results! […] In the meantime, I have lost the person I loved most in the world, in conditions unworthy of his great soul,” she wrote in her heartbreaking letter, which you can read in full here.

Our hearts go out to the actress and her loved ones.

Explosion in the number of asylum seekers in Sherbrooke

The financial year at SANC ends at the end of June, but the numbers speak for themselves. As of April 30, 471 asylum seekers have knocked on the door. In the period 2021-2022 there were 311.

We achieved 350% of the goals we had to achieve with our funder, the Department of Immigration, Franciscanization and Integration [MIFI]summarizes SANC Director General Manon Couture.

However, the hands of the SANC are tied. Quebec only allows asylum seekers to offer two services: assistance in finding housing and an information session about available government services.

For the rest of the services they have to go to Montreal to the Regional Program for the Reception and Integration of Asylum Seekers, PRAIDA. He is tasked with meeting the needs of asylum seekers in Quebec. But the reality is that when people come here and knock here […]”For the rest of the services they could use, they don’t go to Montreal often,” Ms. Couture pleads.

“We see the need and really wish we could do more. […] Why shouldn’t they have the same services as the other customers? »

– A quote from Manon Couture, Managing Director of SANC

The MIFI recognizes that the powers of regional bodies such as the SANC are limited. Minister Christine Fréchette’s office says it wants to study the impact of the Roxham Road closure at the end of March before extending its mandate or increasing its funding.

In Sherbrooke, the number of asylum seekers who presented themselves to the SANC fell to 32 in April, down from 97 in March.

From Venezuela to Quebec

José Martinez is one of those who chose Sherbrooke as their country of asylum. In his tiny apartment in downtown Sherbrooke, he tells what prompted him to apply for asylum in Canada: persecution, threats, fears for his life. Its calm and balanced tone contrasts with its story.

The Venezuelan left his country in 2017. At that time, violent protests shook the country. He took part, as did tens of thousands of his countrymen. Except that the popular uprising was severely suppressed. Mr. Martinez then felt his life was in danger. Anyone who disagrees will be persecuted. And I am among those who disagree with dictator Nicolas Maduro’s policies, he says, before pointing out that members of the National Guard met him.

In his eyes he had no choice but to leave his country. His escape took him to Peru and then to the United States. Here, too, his security was precarious, he says. Xenophobic and racist threats were numerous. And returning to Venezuela was out of the question for him.

“I felt persecuted. I am afraid to return to my country. fear of dying. »

– A quote from José Martinez, asylum seeker in Sherbrooke

On the way to Canada

After years of fleeing, he decided to seek refuge in Canada. His path to inner peace has a name: Roxham. He crossed it on December 5, 2022. As soon as he set down his suitcase on Canadian soil, a sense of well-being washed over him.

“We were treated like human beings. […] I am grateful that I finally feel safe. »

— A quote from José Martinez, asylum seeker

After a stopover in Montreal, he moved to Sherbrooke on March 1, lured by the cost of living. For him, Canada and Quebec are truly welcoming countries. But not everything is perfect.

José Martinez, an asylum seeker living in Sherbrooke.

José Martinez has recently arrived in Sherbrooke and volunteers whenever he can. Here he volunteers for an activity co-organized by Actions interculturelles.

For example, due to his status as an asylum seeker, he cannot receive support for the care of his little 1½ year old. In the early days, the floor served him as a bed. His apartment is gradually being furnished, as is his schedule.

At school, but not at work

Today, José is taking full-time francification courses at the Center Saint-Michel in Sherbrooke. In his lessons on Wednesday mornings, the lessons are overflowing. In my class I have three nurses, an agricultural scientist and two engineers, says teacher Johanne Deschênes. These are mostly highly educated people.

The atmosphere in her class is good-natured, even though she knows that French is not a game for her students.

Because the ultimate goal for them is to learn French naturally, but that’s it [surtout] to make her dream come true, to work again, to use her diploma, to really settle in Quebec, in Sherbrooke, to raise her family there, to develop her community, to integrate into the Quebec community. And as the saying goes: work, earn money and have a good life, she sums it up.

Also on school desks on the rise

At the Saint-Michel center in Sherbrooke, 289 asylum seekers were registered last April, compared to 131 in 2021-2022. At the Center de Services Scolaire de la Région-de-Sherbrooke, there are five times more children with this status than last year: 124 students last April, compared with 27 in 2021-2022.

On a Wednesday in May, José Martinez confided to his teacher that he had trouble sleeping these days.

He has been in Quebec for almost six months and is still waiting for his work permit. He’s paid for legal counsel and made sure his papers are in order, but like many others, he’s still in limbo.

When he blew out his 30 candles far away from his family a week ago, it was undoubtedly his wish: to be given a work permit. “I want to work,” the young man repeats.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, as of February 25, 2023, 80% of work permit applications are approved within five days of receiving a positive permit decision.

However, José must first pass an interview before receiving an answer, whether positive or not. When is this interview scheduled? “I don’t have a date yet,” he said.

Sherbrooke MP Elisabeth Brière acknowledges that a delay of several months is possible for asylum seekers. It depends on whether the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, an independent administrative tribunal, finds it easy or difficult to determine whether the asylum application is legitimate, she replied via email.

Meanwhile, the financial support he receives from Quebec – nearly $800 a month – is almost entirely eaten up by his rent. But José Martinez does not want more money from the government. In particular, he wants to work to send money to his mother, whom he has not seen for six years.

Despite the pitfalls, the Venezuelan is aware of his chances to feature at Sherbrooke. Nevertheless, he draws a smile from his small balcony: Life is beautiful. It’s hard, but life is beautiful.

Transport replies to the judge that the expedition to “Villa de Pitanxo” is managed by an entity that is not subject to government directives

The Department of Transport wasted no time following the controversy over the departure, without court approval, of the expedition that will attempt to reach the remains of the Galician fishing vessel Villa de Pitanxo, which sank 450 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland on February 15, 2022 (Canada ) – a shipwreck that killed 21 people: 9 sailors died and 12 were missing. This Tuesday, less than 24 hours after Judge Ismael Moreno asked the government for explanations for the departure of the team of experts aboard the ship Artabro, Transportes sent a letter to the Judge of the National Court detailing that the entire operation is directly managed the Permanent Commission for the Investigation of Casualties and Incidents at Sea (Ciaim) becomes an “independent” body that does not work under its orders.

In this five-page letter, to which EL PAÍS had access, Transport emphasizes that it cannot provide the judge with the necessary data “regarding the departure of the ship or other aspects related” to the expedition. “Only Ciaim is qualified to provide such information,” says the document from the department headed by Socialist Minister Raquel Sánchez. In this sense, the Ministry points out that the Permanent Commission “is a collegial body with full operational autonomy” and which, on the basis of the legislation in force, “takes all decisions related to the technical investigation of accidents and incidents in maritime transport without participation of the Ministry” can issue instructions in this regard”.

More information

Judge Moreno, investigating the causes of the shipwreck, accused Transport on Monday that the Artabro had set sail on May 17 from the port of Vigo (Pontevedra) “without the express authorization” of his court and without having “complied with” the “repeated” commands he transmitted. The court had previously pointed out that once it was known which company had commissioned the expedition, it was for the judge to agree on the dates of the operation and “the form”. However, the ship departed without the consent of the judge, who had been informed of the departure just hours before, and only one of the two experts was hired by the instructor to prepare a report.

For this reason, Moreno requested “urgent” explanations from the ministry’s Deputy Director General for Administration and Financial Management, who quickly sent him this five-page reply letter; and also the head of Ciaim chaired by Jesús Panadero Pastrana. EL PAÍS has contacted the Standing Commission to get their version of events and to find out who gave the order for the expedition to leave. By late Tuesday afternoon, however, she had not yet responded to the newspaper’s questions and was silent.

In its explanations, the Ministry insists that its intervention in the project of locating and lowering the Villa de Pitanxo was only of an administrative nature, in order to provide Ciaim with financial resources, however, all decisions on the allocation and award rested with this body. “It is Ciaim’s responsibility to prepare the technical specifications of the contract, the technical evaluation of the offers received and, in particular, the execution of the contract,” the letter to the judge reads. Furthermore, the document stresses that Transport intervened because the Standing Commission “has no separate legal personality” and therefore “cannot be a contracting authority under the provisions of the Public Sector Procurement Regulations”.

What affects most is what happens closer. Subscribe so you don’t miss anything.

In this sense, the ministry insists that Ciaim is “organically linked to transport” for the same reason (lack of legal personality), but carries out its work with total autonomy. Without following the instructions of the department headed by Raquel Sánchez. “In accordance with community law and international standards in this area, accident investigation organizations must be independent of any agents that may be the subject of the investigation, which include administrative centers and ministries,” reads the response sent to the national court, Clinches : “It is forbidden by law for the administrative authorities in maritime or port matters (the Department of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda) to give you instructions in this regard.”

Coroner Moreno has charged Villa de Pitanxo boss Juan Padín with gross negligence and violation of workers’ rights on 21 counts of involuntary manslaughter. The families of the victims last week denounced the expedition’s departure without the judge’s approval, fearing that the defense “might question the results” during the trial. “More than anyone, we want the ship to put to sea, but it must respect all the guarantees so that no one questions the validity of this test,” said the group’s spokeswoman, María José de Pazo.

1684907550 I Am stories of women in the first person

“I Am”, stories of women in the first person

The stories of I Am (Tuesday at 10pm on COSMO) could be every woman’s story, and at the same time they are about unique women. Toxic relationships, the pressures of society and expectations, the pain of betrayal… Everyday stories for everyday women who become everyday heroes. The British director and screenwriter Dominic Savage is responsible for this production, which has a different storyline in each chapter and in which he has implemented a particular collaborative creation system that gives the actresses a prominent place in front of and behind the screen.

The lecture comes four days after being awarded “I Am Ruth” (each chapter is titled with the name of its protagonist), the only episode of the show’s third season to win the Bafta for Best Dramatic Chapter and Kate Winslet for Best actress has received . for said episode, in which the actress’ real-life daughter plays the teenage daughter of the protagonist, who is obsessed with social media. “That’s a great claim because every season there have been Bafta nominations. It’s great because it makes you want to keep doing it.” To talk about the origins of this series, Savage harks back to his film The Pursuit of Happyness (2017), starring Gemma Arterton. To write their screenplay, the director and actress met to discuss what they wanted to tell, and she brought in ideas drawn from her own experience. “I found it very refreshing to do a film from a woman’s point of view. There were men, but it wasn’t their story, it was theirs. I liked this way of working with the actors. We didn’t portray it as a feminist film, but in a way it was.” In the end, he was so pleased with the experience that he wanted to repeat it. “This way of writing a story for a woman seemed new to me, I haven’t seen any other drama done this way. Many great actresses have approached me to do this work. They brought their ideas and we made films out of them.” Or actually 50 minute episodes.

More information

Such is the involvement of the actresses in the “I Am” stories that the protagonist of each episode is signed on as screenwriter along with Savage. For each chapter, he meets up with the actress – a cast of big British names including Samantha Morton, Lesley Manville, Vicky McClure, Suranne Jones and the aforementioned Kate Winslet – to brainstorm ideas. “Sometimes they’ve already thought about an area that interests them, other times it pops up in conversation and most often it’s that it’s related to something that interests us both equally.” But it’s important that there are themes that affect them.” An example Savage gives: Vicky McClure, protagonist of the first episode “I Am Nicola”, about a woman in a toxic relationship, experienced a similar situation as her character.

Vicky McClure, star of Vicky McClure, star of “I Am Nicola”.

After these previous meetings, he creates the screenplay while the conversations between the two continue. “We think together all the elements of the story that we add. It’s a fantastic way to work. I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t think anyone else would do it that way. “It’s a very equitable and trust-based process,” Savage continues. This work in close collaboration does not end when filming begins, but during the recording they also adjusted certain aspects of the stories or the dialogues with a lot of improvisation.

According to Savage, the actresses welcome the proposal with open arms knowing how deeply involved they will be in the creative process. “I’ve heard a lot of stories of actresses having to do scenes they don’t agree with, but they can’t change because they’re there to do that job and that scene. If my scene doesn’t work for them or they’re not happy with something, we don’t do it and try something different. It’s about giving the power back to the actor, they have a say in the way we do it. I also think it feels different when you look at it because it’s the woman’s perspective, her mind, her heart and her feelings. “A lot of women who have seen the show feel represented in a way that they don’t have in other dramas,” recalls the director-writer.

Samantha Morton, in the episode Samantha Morton, in the episode “I Am Kirsty”.

I Am differs not only in the conception, but also in the implementation. The naturalistic, documentary-like style with which Savage has shot the seven episodes produced so far is no coincidence. “I come from a documentary background and I like the freedom that comes with it. There aren’t any settings to adjust to like in dramas. I also like to shoot very quickly and this style gives me a lot of freedom in every scene. It allows the actors not so much to act as to almost be these people. We shot in real places and I try to make them places where you can imagine real people who lived in that house had almost the same experience. “I like aligning the universes we’re shooting in with the story,” he adds of his visual style.

The unique creative process initiated by Dominic Savage has resulted in a first class cast of which the director is immensely proud. “I’ve been doing drama for a long time and I find it very actor-centric. There’s a noticeable difference in terms of performance: they’re a lot more real, and I think that’s something the actors are drawn to.

Nothing is going right for Canada

Nothing is going right for Canada

Canada endured a very difficult end to the Ice Hockey World Championship preliminary tournament, losing 2-3 on penalties to Norway on Monday in Latvia.

It is the second setback in a row for head coach André Tourigny’s squad. She lowered her flag against Switzerland last Saturday. The Swiss team sits at the top of Group B and has dominated since the start of the competition, which is really not the case for Norway.

In fact, the Scandinavian nation had only managed one win in five games before meeting Canada. The Norwegians defeated Slovenia 1-0 last week, a team that has not won six times.

“It’s a surreal feeling,” Norwegian defender Johannes Johannesen told the IIHF website. I never thought I would beat Canada at a World Cup. This is a big win for us!”

A small point

It was Lawson Crouse who gave the Canadians a point against Norway. A few seconds before the end of regular time, the redhead accepted a great relay run from Michael Carcone and shot the puck into Jonas Arntzen’s net.

Canadian goalkeeper Joel Hofer made a couple of good saves in extra time. However, he was very generous in the shootout and yielded four times in five throws. His teammates were unable to do the same and defeat was inevitable.

“We have to get better,” Crouse said. All teams play very well defensively. We have to find a way to get more chances and get through. It’s a very short tournament.

Back quickly

Norway also scored the first two goals of that game. After a little more than 10 minutes of play in the first third, Andreas Martinsen brought the puck behind Hofer’s back. Whoever wore the Montreal Canadiens colors for nine games in 2016–2017 did so with a good wrist shot.

Sondre Olden doubled the winning lead right at the start of the second half. The 30-year-old veteran fired what appeared to be a harmless shot, but the puck was deflected off a Canadian player and crept past the goal line.

Milan Lucic reduced the deficit to half before the midfielder’s end. It was the Calgary Flames’ second goal of the competition.

Canada (3-1-1-1) concludes the group stage on Tuesday in a duel against the Czech Republic (4-0-1-1). This game will have a significant impact on the final Maple Leaf placement for the quarterfinals of the competition.

“We have to learn from what we didn’t do well today [lundi] and be ready for tomorrow [mardi], Crouse said. It will be a very big duel.”

On the second day, the Kremlin was “concerned” about a spectacular armed attack from Ukraine

Russia said on Tuesday it had used its air force and artillery to “smash” the group that had attacked the Belgorod border region from Ukraine the day before, in the heaviest incursion into Russian territory since the conflict began.

• Also read: Russia: Drone strikes in a region bordering Ukraine

On Monday, fighters who entered Russia from Ukraine attacked several towns in the Belgorod region, which also came under artillery fire and drone strikes, forcing residents to flee.

The Kremlin expressed “deep concern” and called for “greater efforts” to prevent the raids, given a spate of attacks on Russian soil in recent months that have raised questions about the strength of Moscow’s defenses.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that it repelled the incursion after an operation of unprecedented proportions, in which aviation and artillery in particular were mobilized.

“The nationalist formations were blocked and crushed,” the Russian ministry said in a statement, referring to the fighters who came from Ukraine in that raid.

“The rest of the nationalists were pushed back to the territory of Ukraine, where the attacks (…) continued until they were completely annihilated,” the ministry said, claiming to have killed “more than 70 Ukrainian terrorists.”

These statements were not immediately verifiable by an independent source.

Russia has accused Kiev of being behind the attack, but Ukrainian authorities deny any involvement.

“We are not waging war on foreign territories,” said Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Maliar on Tuesday, seeing it as an “internal Russian crisis.”

Russians interviewed by AFP in Moscow on Tuesday expressed fear of new attacks.

“It concerns not only Belgorod, but all border areas. “The whole Russian nation is worried about the idea that (the bombings) could happen further away, in Moscow,” explains Alexander, a 42-year-old engineer who has chosen not to give his name.

“People in Belgorod should think, not just lie on their sofas, but scratch their heads and wonder if everything is fine in the Russian state,” said Sergei Rousakov, a 70-year-old retired industrial engineer.

The Ukrainians interviewed in Kiev were more interested in fighting at home.

“Our military must reconquer what the Russians conquered – the cities of Ukraine.” We don’t need Russia,” says Olga, 26, a daycare worker.

“We want faster victory and greater achievements in Bachmout, liberation of Mariupol, liberation of Crimea,” says Oleksandre, a pensioner.

The attack in Belgorod was alleged on a Telegram channel posing as a member of the “Legion Freedom for Russia,” a Russian group fighting on the Ukrainian side that had already claimed to be behind previous incursions into the same region.

Another similar group would take part in the operation, the “Russian Volunteer Corps”.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the new invasion meant “more efforts” were needed to ensure Russia’s security. “These efforts will continue and the special military operation (in Ukraine) will continue to prevent something like this from happening again,” he added.

Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said several locations, including Grayvoron, the capital of the eponymous district, had been subjected to “numerous” bombardments from artillery pieces, multiple rocket launchers and drones.

Nine towns were also evacuated, the governor said, reporting at least 12 civilians injured.

In response to the raid, Russia on Monday decreed an “anti-terrorist” regime for the entire Belgorod region, a measure that strengthens the authorities’ powers.

In recent months and weeks, as a massive counteroffensive by Ukraine looms, Russian territory has been the target of an increasing number of sabotage, bombings and drone strikes attributed to Kiev but never claimed by Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin did not comment on the incident, confining himself to speaking generally about the conflict at an awards ceremony in the Kremlin on Tuesday.

“Yes, Russia is facing difficult times, but today is a special time for our national consolidation,” he said.

On Monday, his spokesman said he had been briefed on the incursion into the Belgorod region.
