Over 50,000 ticket requests: Great enthusiasm for the SuperFrancoFête

There is unprecedented excitement for the SuperFrancoFête show, which will be presented on August 31st at the Agora de Québec. Over 50,000 ticket requests were made for the 5,000 free seats that are available. We have just made the decision to also broadcast this show event on big screens at the Place des Canotiers.

President and founder of SISMYK, Sylvain Parent-Bédard, quickly faced a major problem.

“I didn’t expect such enthusiasm. We initially thought we would attract between 3,500 and 5,000 people,” he said in an interview.

The SuperFrancoFête, which pays homage to the great party that took place in Quebec in 1974, will welcome around thirty artists including Zachary Richard, Patrick Bruel, Stephan Eicher, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Louis-Jean Cormier and Robert Charlebois.

The day after the start of the ticket registration period, the inquiries exceeded all expectations of the organizers.

In solution mode, Sylvain Parent-Bédard, his team, people from the Agora, the City of Quebec and the Port of Quebec visited the site yesterday to identify areas where it would be possible to install giant screens and accommodate more viewers.

The choice fell on the Place des Canotiers location along Dalhousie Street in the Port of Quebec. Details on the number of big screens and spectators to be accommodated there will be announced in the coming days. The site will be accessible to everyone and it is not necessary to have tickets to access it.

“The first item at the top of the list is security. We want people to be able to have an enjoyable experience without overwhelming each other,” said Sylvain Parent-Bédard.

The president and founder of SISMYK swears he never expected such a success, even with the presence of a particularly tall artistic poster.

“We’ve had some disappointments in the past,” he noted.

A postcard website

Could the show have been presented on the Plains of Abraham to make an even bigger nod to the original event?

“It was clear from the start that we were in favor of presenting the SuperFrancoFête at the Agora. A cultural revival is underway in this sector and we wanted postcard images of the river, Île d’Orléans, the bridges, Château Frontenac and Old Quebec for international television broadcasts. It’s an extraordinary setting and it’s the DNA we wanted for this premiere,” he explained.

With 50,000 ticket requests 13 days before the event, there was no longer any talk of moving to the Plains.

“The entire scenography of the event revolves around the installations of the Agora site. The stage must be completely dismantled for the installation of the scenography elements. It would be impossible to turn back with such a short delay anyway,” he said.

The drawing for tickets for the Agora will take place on Monday. Winners will receive an email and will need to confirm their attendance.
