Disruptions are also to be expected in the road network, especially on Highway 417. There is talk of possible closures of exits to the city center.

The Ottawa Police Service and the City of Ottawa will work together to mitigate any potential unrest in the city.

Police state that no illegal activity, including obstructing a public road or delaying traffic, will be tolerated.

A national security expert says the momentum of the “freedom convoy” is losing momentum. However, he believes that it is better if the police are pre-emptively prepared.

“One of the very great and difficult lessons that the Ottawa police force in particular has learned is not to underestimate any form of demonstration that might arise in Ottawa,” said Michel Juneau-Katsuya, intelligence officer at CSIS. “This time I don’t think they will be included.”
