The series tells the true story of the impressive spread of cocaine between the US and Europe in the 1980s: the first two seasons focus on the DEA and Colombian authorities’ fight against drug trafficker Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel, the third season about the fight in the Cali cartel with Gilbert and Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela.

First, the focus is on the character of Escobar, the most famous and dangerous cocaine boss of all time, at the head of the Medellín cartel. After its defeat, the DEA turns its full attention to the richest drug trafficking organization in the world, the Cali cartel, led by four powerful godfathers, which operates in a completely different way than the Escobar, offering government bribes and violent actions carried out off the news.
