Oiler: Leon Draisaitl not satisfied

The great players are often the most critical of themselves and despite an exceptional season that could allow him to reach the highest peaks, Leon Draisaitl believes he can do better.

At the break of the All-Star Games, the German is the second-best scorer in the National Hockey League thanks to his collection of 76 points in 48 games. With that, he is heading towards a campaign of 130 points, which of course would be a personal brand.

However, the perpetually dissatisfied believe they can do more. In the second half of the season, the mental aspect will prevail and Draisaitl wants to stay in his bubble.

“To be honest, it’s been a strange year for me personally. I wasn’t exactly happy with the way I played,” he revealed at a press conference on Thursday.

“Obviously the stats tell you otherwise,” the Edmonton Oilers player added with a laugh. I think there’s another level I can reach, not just in terms of stats or goals or assists or whatever.”

It works for McDavid

Perhaps Draisaitl is stunned to see his teammate Connor McDavid in the running for the Maurice Richard Trophy. Within the amazing couple they have formed for the past eight years, the 27-year-old has always been considered the trigger for the duo. He has already surpassed the 50-goal mark twice.

Even McDavid cannot explain his success, who already has 41 goals after 50 games.

“I was never a sniper. I’ve always created opportunities and always taken advantage of them, but for a reason everything falls into place this year,” the Ontarian told media gathered in Florida for the All-Star Game.

This weekend, the two men have a chance to strike sparks in the formation of the Pacific Section. The other teams just have to behave.
