No ifs and buts

A Fox News reporter asked US President Biden what he was thinking about storing classified information next to a vintage Corvette. “My Corvette is in a locked garage, okay?” Biden responded, adding: It’s not like the documents are out on the street. With all due respect, such a statement is not only embarrassing, but downright unworthy of a president. Secret documents undoubtedly belong in the national archive, not in private custody. Biden’s strange communication is fodder for Trump and the Republicans. Especially since Democrats until recently heavily criticized former President Donald Trump for his handling of privately stored secret files. With a majority in the House of Representatives, Republicans can now launch parliamentary investigations into the case. This increases domestic political pressure on President Biden.
