Media concentration affects democracy says Atilio Boron

Nicaragua government will support more than 193,000 small producers

According to Finance and Public Credit Minister Iván Acosta, 55,000 orchards will be planted and 2.2 million plants will be delivered, as well as a thousand artisanal ponds will be created to boost aquaculture production.

In statements to the press, the minister added that 306 municipal seed banks will also be organized as a strategic measure to obtain high-quality vegetative material at a lower cost.

In the same way, he stressed the importance of technology transfer, as it allows the promotion of themes identified as priorities for the country.

In this sense, Acosta highlighted pig production and the support they will offer to this sector with the installation of 20 genetic material extraction centers for the development of this area.

The government official stressed the need for government support for small and medium-sized producers as more than 80 percent of the food consumed by Nicaraguan families is produced by them.

Family Economy Minister Justa Pérez said this week that Nicaragua is working to boost the family economy and thousands of cooperatives in the country to strengthen the socio-productive model based on the national anti-poverty plan.
