New York’s JFK airport terminal to remain closed after power outage

February 17 (Portal) – A terminal at John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City remains closed on Friday due to a power outage disrupting incoming and outgoing flights at one of the world’s busiest airports.

The outage began Thursday at Terminal 1, which serves several international airlines, including Air France and Lufthansa.

As of 8:30 a.m. Friday, JFK’s website showed that 58 inbound and outbound flights at the airport were either delayed or canceled. About half were international flights.

“Travelers should check with their airlines for flight status before arriving at the airport,” JFK said on Twitter.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns JFK, is working with the terminal’s operator to restore flight operations as soon as possible, she added.

JFK said it is working to accommodate affected flights through some of the airport’s other four terminals.

Port Authority officials did not immediately respond to a Portal request for comment.
