New York Airport Missing 300 meters in the disaster Today

At JFK Airport, an American Airlines Boeing 777 taxied onto a runway where a Delta Boeing 737 was approaching.

On Friday, January 13, around 8:45 pm local time, a delicate situation occurred at John F. Kennedy International Airport, as reported by “Aerotelegraph”. A catastrophe was just 300 meters away. A Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-900 was about to take off as flight DL1943 for Santo Domingo. The jet, registration N914DU, was already accelerating when another aircraft crossed runway 04L.

The American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N754AN, passed the runway from the left of a taxiway. There followed the instruction from the control tower to the 737 crew: “Sh*****, Delta 1943, abort takeoff!”, as heard on the radio audio recording. And again: “Delta 1943, abort takeoff!” According to the preliminary analysis of the American aviation authority FAA, the Boeing 737 stopped at the last moment, that is, about 1,000 feet or 300 meters before the point where the Boeing 777 would have crossed the runway.

Incident is being investigated

In addition to the FAA, the NTSB, which is responsible for the accidents, also said it was investigating the incident. According to the Aviation Herald portal, which specializes in incidents, the Boeing 777 was cleared to cross runway 31L of runway K, but apparently continued on runway J without permission and crossed runway 04L, which also headed for takeoff.

According to CNN, there were 145 passengers and six crew on board the Delta aircraft. Due to the crew’s work schedule, the plane had to go back to the gate and could only take off the next morning. The American Airlines jet took off for London on Friday night.
