At the end of the oath to the constitution, Meloni gave a short speech to wish the chosen ones a good job.

“We hope this adventure will be long. Difficult, for sure, and we hope exciting too. It will only be if we manage to provide answers to citizens and that is why we are here. Thank you for what you are doing and always consider yourselves as a team,” she said to the chosen ones.

Meloni, leader of the farright Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, said the secretaries of state “now represent the country”.

The ceremony was also attended by the two vice prime ministers of the government: Matteo Salvini from the Liga and Antonio Tajani from Força Italia. The three acronyms form the bloc supporting the new government.

Among the State Secretaries there are 15 representatives from the FdI, nine from the League and eight from the IF, and only eleven are women. Compared to the previous government, Mario Draghi had 35 state secretaries, including 16 women.

On November 4th, the new eight deputy ministers of the government will be sworn in. .
