Netflix is looking for its next Squid game – Den of Geek – with these Korean titles

Since Squid Game It premiered on Netflix in 2021 and continues to be the streaming service’s most-watched series. Despite the popularity of both stranger things season 4 and Wednesday in 2022, Squid Game has seen its peak position with a total of 1.65 billion hours. Given the popularity of this series, it’s no surprise that Netflix would look to expand its offering of Korean titles.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, at least 34 different unscripted Korean films, TV shows and series will hit the streaming platform in 2023, representing a variety of genres. In the article about Tudum, Don Kang, Netflix’s Vice President of Content for Korea, says:

“The global popularity of K-content has continued at a rapid pace in 2022, with Netflix bringing a greater variety of stories and genres to fans around the world. Over the past year, Korean series and films have been consistently featured in our Global Top 10 list in more than 90 countries, and three of Netflix’s most-watched shows are from Korea. This year, we’re pushing the boundaries of the stories we tell and how we tell them. With this series of Korean titles, Netflix will continue to be the ultimate destination for compelling, diverse and watchable Korean storytelling.”
