Navigo Pass scam: beware of fraudulent emails when subscription is blocked – RTL

Attention new scam. On its website, Ile-de-France Mobilités states that several subscribers have received one fraudulent email in their personal inbox with the subject “Navigo – subscription suspended”?

It is, as the IDFM states, an attempted fraud and the site recommends not clicking the link. By tricking you into clicking this link, scammers are actually trying to extort money from their victims.

Faced with this scam, Ile-de-France Mobilités responded to 20 Minutes and explained its methods: “We don’t do it that way at all.. In the case of unpaid invoices, an SMS is always sent before an email informing the customer of the status of his contract and the steps to be taken,” specifies the organization that manages transport in Ile-de-France.

The technique used by scammers is called “phishing” and consists of posing as an official body in order to collect confidential information such as a password or credit card number. Potential victims receive an email or text message that looks like an official message.
