Nashville SWAT officer kills Grammy winner Mark Capps, wanted for assault and kidnapping

Grammy-winning recording engineer Mark Capps was shot dead by Nashville police on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said an officer killed the 54-year-old at his Hermitage-area home after he was accused of kidnapping and threatening his wife and stepdaughter at gunpoint.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said officers went to the home to arrest Capps on warrants that charged him with two counts of aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping.

“The victims said Capps woke them up at 3 a.m., gathered them up in the living room at gunpoint, and refused to let them go,” Aaron explained.

The wife and stepdaughter went to the police and warrants were issued that afternoon, Aaron confirmed.
