Regional music festival Groovin the Moo is making its first national tour since 2019 — but not to all locations

Popular music festival Groovin the Moo will be touring nationwide this year, with six shows scheduled across the country in April and May.

It is the first time in four years that the traveling festival has been able to visit Western Australia since Covid restrictions canceled shows there.

The festival, which began in 2005, has since moved its Queensland performance from Townsville to the Sunshine Coast.

In a statement announcing the festival, organizers blamed “logistical challenges and increased financial pressures” for the Queensland venue change.

No artists have been confirmed for the shows yet.

The concert series begins in Wayville, SA on April 21st before moving to Maitland, NSW on April 22nd, followed by a show in Canberra, ACT on April 23rd.

Next up is Bendigo, Victoria on April 29th, before the Sunshine Coast gig on April 30th and the tour concluding in Bunbury, WA on May 6th.

In 2020, due to the coronavirus outbreak, GTM had to cancel all six national dates in April and May.

Last year Groovin the Moo managed to get gigs in Bendigo, Maitland and Canberra after a Covid outbreak forced the cancellation of shows in Townsville, Wayville and Bunbury.

The 2022 line-up included Hilltop Hoods, Wolf Alice, Broods and Middle Kids.

Controversial pill testing has been introduced in previous years of the festival.

Doctors, pharmacists and consultants tested the contents of pills brought into the venue by concert-goers.

Potential drug users then get a clear indication of what is in their drugs.
