Murder in Repentigny: shock and misunderstandings follow

The murder of a 21-year-old young man, committed in Repentigny on Saturday morning, caused shock and incomprehension from one of her friends, who described the victim as a “sweet and problem-free” boy.

“He was a funny and very calm person. He always thought of others first. I don’t understand why someone attacked him,” says Noémy Mercier, a longtime friend.

Around 4am, Repentigny police officers received a call for a seriously injured person on rue de Bernières. The victim, Youcef Khelil, was then transported to the hospital center where he succumbed to his injuries.

“The last time I saw him was four or five months ago. We didn’t see each other every day, but we were a gang that stayed friends after high school. We’ve heard from each other occasionally and he’s been fine,” said the young woman, who went to the scene of the tragedy on Saturday afternoon.

According to her, Youcef Khelil still lived with his parents on rue de Bernières.

Investigation

The investigation was transferred to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which was on site to analyze the scene and understand the circumstances of this event.

“We still don’t know what type of weapon was involved in this attack,” said Catherine Bernard, spokeswoman for the SQ.

According to our information, Youcef Khelil had no criminal record. The investigation continues in cooperation with the local authorities.
