Colombian actor Germán Tovar died this Saturday, January 21, at the age of 72, according to the Colombian Actors’ Association (ACA).
Posting a photo of the actor on his Instagram account, ACA wrote: “Today our dear colleague and friend Germán Tobar Celeíta left. Solidarity hugs to his wife and daughters”.
Tobar starred in the hit Colombian soap opera in the role of one of the lawyers that Betty, the protagonist, hires to carry out the plan that ends with the embargo of Ecomoda, the fictional company the plot revolves around.
Although he has also acted in other television series, his role in which his name was José Ambrosio Rosales is still remembered on the continental level.
In addition to Tobar, several actors from the original cast of I am Ugly Betty have also died. Among them Dora Cadavid, who played Doña Inesita, Raúl Santa, “el Check or Pupuchurro” and Celmira Luzardo, who gave birth to Catalina Ángel.
The screenwriter of the Colombian television hit Fernando Gaitán has also passed away.
