Cocorico, Paris was ranked number 1 by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as “the most powerful and important tourist cities in the world”.
Paris is ahead of Beijing (China) and Orlando (USA)
The British non-profit organization specializing in the travel industry set up the WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council). Paris at the top as “the most touristic city in the world”.
Paris regained 90% of its 2019 visitor numbers
It must be said that tourists returned to Paris last year after 2 years of empty passage, the City of Light regained 90% of the 2019 visitor numbers, even if Asian tourists have still not returned.
In 2022, 34.5 million tourists visited Greater Paris. However, this still represents a decrease of 10.3% compared to 2019. In the World Travel and Tourism Council ranking, Paris is ahead of Beijing (China) and Orlando (USA).
To achieve this ranking, WTTC compiled tourism data from the past year to define the destinations where travelers spend the most money. The level of investment for the national and local government sectors and businesses also played a role.
