Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on February 14 the rescue of more than eight thousand people left under the rubble after the earthquakes that struck that country last week.

Unfortunately, the death toll is growing as debris is cleared from thousands of collapsed homes, but more than eight thousand people have been rescued in total, it said.

More than 81,000 people have been injured, a significant number of whom have already been discharged from hospitals, Erdogan said in a video message to participants at the world government summit taking place in Dubai.

According to the Ottoman leader, the country’s authorities plan to quickly restore all the destroyed cities.

More than 100 countries in the world, mainly the Arab States, have sent us help or offered their condolences.

The February 6 earthquakes in south-eastern Turkey killed 31,643 people, injured more than 81,000 and destroyed 6,444 buildings.

In the disaster areas, rescue work continues and debris cleared up, but the cold temperatures at night make the work difficult for the specialists.
