At around 17:50, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported that he had been called to the scene of the accident, which occurred on Boulevard Pie-IX, very close to the intersection with Boulevard Henri-Bourassa.

When they arrived at the scene, “the police tended to a 45-year-old woman who had been seriously injured in the upper body,” said agent Julien Lévesque, spokesman for the SPVM.

The injured were treated by rescue workers and taken to a nearby hospital. The woman, who was in critical condition, was conscious during her drive to the hospital, authorities said, who were still awaiting further information on her health late Tuesday night.

According to initial information from the police, the driver involved in the collision “left the scene of the accident before the police arrived” and thus committed a hit-and-run. At the time of the collision, he was traveling south on Pie-IX Boulevard.

“We have established a security perimeter for our investigators. You will be meeting with various witnesses over the next few hours,” continued Constable Lévesque. The video tapes from surveillance cameras in the area should also be viewed by the investigators in order to determine the causes and the exact circumstances of the incident.

In the evening, traffic was temporarily closed on Boulevard Pie-IX near Boulevard Henri-Bourassa.
