A vengefully protective mother has split the internet over her decision to kill, cook and eat a pet chicken that pecked her child in the face.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, Magan Schmidt wrote about how her family’s pet rooster, HeiHei, “attacked” her daughter and nearly pecked her eye.
Schmidt wrote that the chicken “got what was coming,” and said the family would eat “HeiHei nuggets for dinner.”
The post found its way to Twitter, where some users were appalled by Schmidt’s brutality, others were amused, and some agreed that HeiHei let it get to him.

In her post, Schmidt defiantly spoke about defending her daughter in front of the likes of HeiHei.
“Well, finally it happened. Our mean old backyard rooster, HeiHei, attacked the little kid!!’ She wrote. “We were SO lucky that he didn’t do more damage than he did.”
She attached a close-up photo of her daughter’s face, showing two cuts and bruises around her eye, and wrote, “Half an inch and she would have lost an eye.”
‘Nevertheless, he got what came his way!’ she added with a shrug emoji. “Mom doesn’t play when it comes to her babies.”

Schmidt included an image of what appeared to be chunks of HeiHei himself, shredded, breaded and sizzling in a pan.
But she also posted a photo of her daughter and HeiHei standing together in what seemed like better times – the shot showed the young girl and the rooster side by side as she ran her fingers through his brown plumage.
While some were shocked by the sight of the fried pet, many were more horrified by the image of the rooster and girl on what appeared to be friendly relations.

“I know people eat chickens all the time, but killing it because it attacked your child doesn’t sit well with me when children are known to upset animals,” wrote one concerned user.
“Giant breaks into your house and starts making a mess, and then you get beaten up and eaten for defending yourself. I’ve seen children treat animals and there’s no way the rooster’s attack wasn’t warranted,” wrote another.
“Imagine punishing an animal for doing animal things,” said a third.
Some supported Schmidt by writing: “Considering that this little girl could have lost her eye, I would cook her alive.”
Many found humor in the situation, including one who wrote, “Revenge is a dish best served with honey mustard.”
