Miss USA wins campaign
In a close competition with Miss Philippines, Miss USA won, beating 85 competitors to capture the Miss Universe title. R’Bonney Gabriel, 28, is a fashion designer, model and sewing teacher. She majored in Fashion Design with a minor in Fibers at the University of North Texas in 2018. She is currently CEO of her own sustainable clothing line, R’Bonney Nola.
She is the Lead Sewing Instructor at Magpies & Peacocks, a nonprofit design house dedicated to harnessing fashion as a force for good through sustainability and community impact. As “Gucci Changemakers” recipients, they were honored for their work in removing unwanted textiles and textiles from landfills and turning them into fashion collections. As part of the “MAKR” program, she gives sewing courses for women who have survived human trafficking and domestic violence.
