Mexican women who won the Miss Universe crown
Lupita Jones
1991, in the 40th edition of the competition, held at the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, USA, Lupita Jones (María Guadalupe Jones Garay) represented Mexico and won. She is currently in charge of Mexicana Universal, the competition that elects our country’s representative each year.
Ximena Navarrete
20 years after Mexico’s first triumph Ximena Navarrete took the crown, on August 23, 2010 in a competition also held in the city of Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
“We, the Mexicans, can do that and We have all the tools, all skills, all qualities. It’s easy to see that there is talent in our country,” said the Jalisco native after the win.

Andrea Mesa
On May 16, 2021, Andrea Meza took the crown at the 69th editionHer reign stands out as the shortest in history, as it did not take place in 2020 due to the pandemic, leaving the young woman from the state of Chihuahua in office for only around seven months. Currently, the young woman works as a host for Telemundo and is already one of the most popular characters on Hispanic television in the United States.
This year’s representative
In the edition that will take place this Saturday, January 14th, Irma Miranda will be present in Mexico. The young woman is 26 years old and is originally from Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. She studied business administration at the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora in Ciudad Obregón and looks forward to doing her best.
