Dominican Andreína Martínez, Miss Universe runner-up, doesn’t believe Amanda Dudamel’s crown was ‘stolen’ as many people asserted that this was after R’Bonney Gabriel was elected sovereign of universal beauty.

The young Dominican spoke about it, explaining that the competition follows criteria to choose the most beautiful woman in the world. “The selection committee has criteria, they have guidelines to follow and I think they did whatever it took to have a worthy representative. Every one of the people that was there worked so hard, we inspire women and honestly any of us could win. Everyone made the decision they needed to make,” she said.

After the coronation of R’Bonney Gabriel as the sovereign of universal beauty, there were many reviews that reached the Miss Universe organization. because the general public felt that the winner should have been Amanda Dudamel, representing Venezuela.

Speaking after the competition, the young Venezuelan assured that being Miss Universe meant more to her than winning a crown.

“The sensations still fascinate me. As it all happened I felt I had an outer vision… I felt my triumph was beyond the crown. I didn’t just go to Miss Universe for the crown, I wanted to show what Venezuelans are made of, what Venezuelans can achieve… It goes beyond being the most beautiful woman in Venezuela and on the planet,” Amanda Dudamel said during an interview with La Mesa Caliente.

The public days following the American’s coronation continued to claim that the crown should have belonged to the young Venezuelan: “We all loved Venezuela”, “This was all a scam, the crown was from Venezuela, this was the only sovereign of the night”, “The winner is the Venezuelan, by God”, “Incredible things are coming for Amanda you gonna see guys! I’ll never get over this night.”
