Mini Cooper, diamonds, Gucci bag: Conman’s gifts to Jacqueline Fernandez

Jacqueline Fernandes was presented with gifts worth Rs 10 crore, sources said.

New Delhi:

Jacqueline Fernandez, the Bollywood actress named in a Rs 200 crore extortion case by the Enforcement Directorate, had received a string of expensive gifts from conman Sukesh Chandrashekar. The list included designer handbags, cars and diamonds.

Jacqueline Fernandez, who was charged in the case, was confronted with Sukesh Chandrasekhar in October. Question number 10 in the minutes of the meeting – held by NDTV – goes like this.

Q.10 Have expensive gifts been exchanged between the two of you?

Jacqueline Fernandez: I received 4 bags from Gucci, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, three shoes from Louis Vuitton and Louboutin, two outfits from Gucci, perfumes, four cats, a Mini Cooper, two diamond earrings, a multicolored diamond bracelet.

Sources at the agency claimed she had received gifts worth Rs 10 million, including a horse worth Rs 52,000 and a Persian cat worth Rs 9,000.

The two said they only met twice in Chennai and had been in contact mostly by phone for about six months. Jacqueline Fernandez said they spoke on the phone from February 2021 to August 2021. In Sukesh Chandrashekar’s version, the dates were from late January 2021 to August 202I.

Sukesh Chandrashekar has been arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 215 crore from Aditi Singh and Shivinder Singh, former backers of pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy.

Enforcement has claimed he used illegal funds to buy gifts for the actor.

In April, the Central Investigative Board seized the actor’s funds – valued at Rs 7.27 billion – and Rs 15,000 in cash, calling them “proceeds of crime”.
