Mick Jagger’s partner of nine, Melanie Hamrick, hints she would like him to pop the question

I’m waiting! Melanie Hamrick, Mick Jagger’s partner of nine years, makes a not-so-subtle hint that she wants him to pop the question, saying she “wouldn’t say no” if he asked her to marry

Sir Mick Jagger may be facing an awkward chat with his partner after she made a not-so-subtle hint that she should hook up with the famous Lothario.

The Rolling Stone and his nine-year-old partner, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, have a six-year-old son, Deveraux, and live a “completely nomadic” lifestyle, moving back and forth between different homes around the world.

Despite their child together – one of 79-year-old Jagger’s eight children with five mothers – the pair have never spoken publicly about the status of their relationship.

Now Ms Hamrick, 36, says in an interview: “I know there have been a lot of questions, ‘Are they engaged or not?’ It doesn’t bother me. I am neither here nor there.’ But when he proposed, she said, “I wouldn’t say no.”

Instead of an engagement ring, the ex-ballerina wears an “engagement ring” set with diamonds and sapphires.

Ms Hamrick first met the then 71-year-old Jagger in Tokyo in February 2014 while touring with her ballet company – she was engaged at the time and Jagger was in a long-term relationship with American fashion designer L’Wren Scott.

Ms Scott took her own life less than a month later, reportedly due to debt and business difficulties.

A few months later, Mrs Hamrick and Jagger were photographed together.

She told The Times: “One of the biggest similarities is the discipline and dedication – his passion for his art and craft and mine for mine.”

After two years of transatlantic dating, Ms Hamrick discovered she was pregnant and struggling to balance her career as a ballerina with motherhood.

Ms Hamrick and Deveraux were welcomed into the Jagger family, along with his seven other children – the eldest of whom, Karis, is 52 – and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Miss Hamrick said: “You get drawn into this world, you adapt, you get used to it and it’s wonderful.” The extended family is said to be so close that they all spend Christmas together at Jagger’s house on the Caribbean island of Mustique and share a family WhatsApp group.

The clan are also reportedly planning a “big party” to celebrate the singer’s 80th birthday on July 26.

Speaking of her jet-set lifestyle, Ms Hamrick said: “I’m enjoying this schedule.” I don’t want to be tied down. “London is my favorite city so hopefully we’ll be based here one day, but until then I’ll just keep going.”

The rocker then began a 20-year relationship with supermodel Jerry Hall, with whom he had four children.

The couple had a Hindu wedding ceremony in Bali in 1990 but nine years later when they separated it was found to be legally invalid in the UK.

Their relationship ended when Ms Hall found out Jagger had fathered his seventh child with model Luciana Gimenez.
