The Attorney General of the State of Mexico has reported the arrest of a teenager allegedly involved in the death of Norma Lizbeth, a minor who died this week from a head injury caused by being beaten by her classmate. Norma Lizbeth’s case came to light after several videos of the attack she suffered went viral on social networks. Her relatives have denounced that the minor suffered from bullying for a long time and that both the director and the teachers of the official secondary school “Los Jaguares” where the young woman studied were aware of it.
According to Mexico State authorities, investigations revealed that videotaped aggression by other students at the school resulted in brain injuries that later resulted in Norma Lizbeth’s death at age 14.
After applying for and obtaining an arrest warrant for the youth, prosecutors’ agents searched a house in the Santa María Cozotlán neighborhood of Teotihuacán municipality and arrested the young student. A statement from the public prosecutor’s office said that the minor was placed at the disposal of a supervising magistrate at the Quinta Bosque detention center to clarify her legal position.
