Meghan Markle to launch podcast on Spotify in summer 2022

Spotify’s production deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will finally translate into a series of podcasts this summer with the launch of Meghan’s first show.

The series is long overdue. Spotify signed a deal with Harry and Meghan’s production company, Archewell Audio, in December 2020 to produce and host podcasts for the service, but so far this has only resulted in one one-off release.

Archewell Discusses Policies To ‘Minimize Spread Of Disinformation’

It also looked like the deal might be on the brink of collapse. In January, as Spotify was scrutinizing the Joe Rogan deal, Archewell Audio released a statement saying it expressed Spotify’s “concerns” about the “all too real impact of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.” Around the same time, Spotify was reported to be pressuring Archewell to do something after a year of nothing to show.

Now it seems that Spotify has smoothed things over and worked out the production schedule. Archewell is “encouraged by the ongoing conversations we’ve had with Spotify” and is working with the streaming service on “policies, practices and strategies to raise creator awareness, minimize the spread of disinformation, and support transparency,” says Toya Holness. , representative of Archewell Audio.

Today’s announcement was “the result of those meetings,” Holness said. While there are no details about what the series will be about, but there is at least a summer launch date. The Sun previously reported that Spotify stepped in and hired Gimlet to create a show for the couple.
